Covid-19 A guide for Parents
Covid-19 (Corona Virus): A Guide for Parents on supporting children and young people with daily routines while schools are closed The Government has made a decision to close all schools in Ireland in order to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 virus and keep as many people as possible safe and well. We have not been in this situation before, so this is new to us all, but if we follow the right advice we will get through this, and in time we will be proud of how we responded and worked together to support our country. This decision has impacted on all of our lives and changed everyone’s daily routines. Some children and young people may be coping well with social/physical distancing and completing school work at home whereas others may be struggling with these changes. There will be challenges in the weeks ahead as your child will miss their friends, school and their extra-curricular activities. We are all in a period of adjustment and it will take time for us to adapt to being at home so much and spending more time together as families. There are things that can help you and your children to get

Message from Mr. Whelan
Dear Students and Parents, I hope that this message finds you and your families well. First and foremost well done to all of you who are continuing to engage with education and looking after your well-being during these challenging times, It has been so heartening to see the commitment of so many of our students and their parents to ensure that during this time of school closure there is a determination among so many people to ensure their future prospects are not jeopardised with continued studies and engagement with teachers who are adapting and working very hard to ensure their students don’t miss out. Please find attached a pdf with all staff email addresses included. We are also very conscious that this can be a very stressful time for all and supports that are usually available to help students may be forgotten. We would like to remind you of the following staff who are available to support students during this time. Dept. Education & Skills Statement
Covid-19 Statement from the Department of Education and Skills All schools, pre-schools and further and higher education settings will remain closed to students until 19 April 2020.The decision has been taken following advice from the NPHET (National Public Health Emergency Team) as part of efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. All young people and children are urged to practice social distancing, and to minimise physical contact to keep themselves and others healthy and to limit the spread of infection. This should include minimising social contact, avoiding meeting up and keeping physical space of two metres between each other. Parents and guardians are urged to support young people and children to follow those simple guidelines.Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh TD said: “This is an extremely difficult time for everyone, not least students and their parents.“The decision to keep schools closed until after the Easter break is based on public health advice. It is a hugely important aspect of our continued effort to limit the spread of Covid-19. “My message to students facing exams is that they should keep focused, keep working and try, as much as possible, to prepare as normal for the state exams. We are doing

Letter from Ms. Murphy
Dear Parent/Guardian and Student, I hope that this message finds you and your family well. Staff and students of the school have worked really hard over the last week to adapt to a new way of working. We got very little notice that the schools were closing and no preparation time. Yet in the space of 6 working days, e-mails have been set up for all students, and staff have embraced technology using Microsoft teams, e-mail, and Google Classroom to ensure that distance learning can take place. Everyone is trying their best to make sure that your daughter continues learning while the school is closed. The Department of Education has asked that priority be given to 6th years, as they face into the Leaving Certificate in June. To this end, we need your support. Please make sure that your daughter is checking in with her teachers. Many teachers have reported that some of the students have not made contact. Please remind your daughter to check in with her teachers. If there are problems with e-mail addresses or access to technology let us know. Likewise, if there is anything else that you may need support with, let us know and we

Covid-19 Update
Dear Parent/Guardian and Student, We are working very hard behind the scenes to make sure that students and their families are supported during these difficult times. To facilitate on-line learning, all students have been issued with a school e-mail. We are running into problems because many students have forgotten their passwords. Mr. Wall is re-issuing links to reset the passwords. We ask that students take down their password in a notebook or somewhere safe, so it does not have to be issued again. Students must log into OFFICE 365 to access their e-mail account. Some students are running into difficulties because they are trying to log into Microsoft. While some teachers are using Google and others Edmodo to communicate with their students, many staff members are moving towards Microsoft Teams. Please see below support links for parents and students. Students should contact their teachers during normal school hours. If there is any student family out there who needs support during this time, Ms. Elaine Dillon, our Home School Community Liaison teacher is available at the end of the phone. Her number is 087 1624105. My e-mail is: principal@loretocrumlin.ie and Mr. Whelan’s email address is mwhelan@loretocrumlin.ie It has come to my attention that some parents may
