Official Launch of the School Website
On Tuesday 18th October 2005, the school was proud to welcome back one of our most illustrious past pupils, Isolde Goggin, Chairperson of Comreg, to officially launch the school website.
Mrs Mulligan welcomed Isolde and recalled her days as a student in Loreto from where she went on to study engineering at TCD, a rather uncommon choice in those days!
Isolde addressed the senior students and a number of guests and spoke about the changes seen in the telecommunications sector since she was a student. Then, there was up a six year waiting period for a landline, a far cry from today when you can get a mobile up and running instantly!. She encouraged the students to be discerning when using the Internet and to be sceptical about the truth of everything they read on websites. While technology has changed our lives for the better in many ways, it has also had unwelcome consequences, in areas such as terrorism etc.
After Isolde clicked the mouse and declared the site launched, Mrs Lavery, who designed and maintains the site gave the audience a short run through the different aspects of the website
