Debating

Debating is a highly successful school activity. Every student is given the opportunity and encouragement to take part in debating. For some, this will mean involvement in inter-class debates; for others, there will be participation in debates with other Loreto schools and for the really enthusiastic and talented, participation in regional and national competitions.

This year, three students will be selected to represent the school in the Mental Health Public Speaking Competition. Junior and Senior students will participate in the Loreto Inter Schools competitions. Senior students will also compete in the Denny Leinster Schools' Competition.

Denny All Ireland Schools Debating Competition

We have had considerable success in the Denny competition over the years, with Nicole Griffin winning it last year. Nicole follows in the footsteps of two former Crumlin girls who also held the title of Best Individual Speaker. Her name will now be added on the trophy along with those of Yvonne Campbell (1996) and Paula Williams (2001).
